“And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.” (Psalm 9:10) One of the reasons many of us continue to struggle in our faith is because we refuse to surrender all to Christ. It will require an acute self-awareness and a willingness to let go of the reins in every area of our lives. We have to let go of control and that is so hard to do when we believe, “I got this.” It’s like asking someone to carry our backpack, when it becomes impossible to carry it, as we climb the hill and telling them, “I got it now,” and taking it back as we descend the hill. We don’t mind leaving God out of the picture when we think, “I got this,” but he wants us to have complete reliance on him even when the load is light. “True trust in Christ is an entire reliance upon him. This day, if you trust Christ, you rest the whole weight and all of the stress of life on him. Looking at your sin and your sinfulness, looking at the past, the present, and the future, looking at death and at judgment, you deliberately believe that Christ is equal to every emergency. Therefore, we just cast ourselves entirely and without reserve on him to save us, and to keep us saved forever. No other trust is worth a penny except this. It must be an absolute severance from all reliance upon your past merit, or upon your present resolutions, or upon your future expectations of what you will or will not do. We have to let go of all other trust if Christ is our confidence.” Charles Spurgeon Help us Lord, to put our whole trust in you. GiGi❤️
