“I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.” (Habakkuk 2:1-4)
We can be very busy and have a lot going on but it is so important to be attentive. When we pray and seek God, it is not enough to pray and go on our way. We must be attentive and wait on the answer. Can we stand in the tower and watch and wait on our Lord? Oh yes, we can! We will wait, “be strong and let our hearts take courage.” (Psalm 27:14) Oh yes, we will wait for the Lord because we know that he will answer. We might even have forgotten what we prayed for last year, or even last week, but the Lord never forgets. The Lord speaks to us in so many ways, in a breeze, the warmth of the sunshine, a turbulent storm, a warm smile, a visit from a friend, or even in silence. Charles Spurgeon wrote: “There is, in the Word of God, a voice which is often inaudible because we are so engrossed with other things. Yet, if we rest in him, if we are still, watching and waiting, then we will receive the answer We may be tempted to worry, but we will watch and wait. We might be distressed, but we will watch and wait. We might become weary but we will watch and wait. Why do we watch? Because our hope is in him. Why do we wait? Because the God that we serve hears us (Michael 7:7) and is our “help and our shield.” (Psalm 33:20) GiGi❤️
