“Trust in him at all times.” (Psalm 62:8)
We cannot place our confidence in feelings and emotions but they do inform us about where we are mentally in the moment. We should lean into those emotions and accept them with self-compassion. For instance, how would we encourage a friend if they were experiencing the same. Yet, we should also challenge our emotions as to whether what we are feeling matches our reality. Even feeling saved can be an emotional experience but emotions should not be the foundation of our relationship with the Lord. Faith and trust is our reality. Even when we don't feel saved, even when we don’t feel loved, even when we don’t feel we belong to anyone, our reality is that we are saved, loved, and belong to Christ. “It is not feeling that will save you! Believing on Jesus will bring you the blessings of grace, but strange feelings may be produced by what you have eaten, or by the weather, or by hysteria, or a hundred other things! We can get excited about many things but excitement does not save anybody! You may be moved with religious excitement and half the emotion may be purely physical—there may be nothing of the grace of God in it…Those whom we trust, we soon learn to love. This, you see, demands no singular sensation or excitement—this is plain and clear enough.” The simplicity of serving God is to just trust Him. Led by faith not our emotions. GiGi❤️
