“So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.” (James 4:17) There are no gray areas in serving God. There is only truth and a lie, righteousness and unrighteousness. Those of us that are in Christ are drawn to the truth. We may not have liked what we heard from the preacher or when the Lord rebuked us, but the Holy Spirit compelled us to righteousness. If we got it wrong, the Lord beckoned us to get it right; get it right with our brother, get it right with our sister, get it right with our co-worker, etc. “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.” (Isaiah 55:7) Charles Spurgeon wrote, “For he that is of God doeth the works of God— his life is the work of God, it is a life which has much that is God-like about it, and he is upheld by the power of God, the ever blessed Spirit. But the ungodly man’s life is very different— he lives for himself, he seeks his own pleasure, he hates all that oppose him, he is up in arms against the Lord, and his truth, and all that is pure and good: his spirit is not the spirit of God, but of the evil one. There is a radical distinction between the gracious and the graceless, and this comes out in their works: the one works the works of God and the other the works of the devil.” Regardless of how we might feel or think, our mood or temperament, God has given us the power to do the right thing, right now. We have the power to override the works of the flesh and subdue evil. (James 4:7) Why do we need power? Because, “professing Christians are sometimes horrible hypocrites.” Do what is right! GiGi❤️
