“But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 92 Peter 3:8)
We may become anxious while waiting for the promise, waiting for our blessing to manifest, or waiting for our deliverance. Yet, let us rest assured, it is done, in the name of Jesus. Eastern philosophy teaches us that living in the past causes depression, while living in the future causes anxiety. “If you are depressed you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are at peace you are living in the present.” Lao Tzu God wants us to be present, regardless of whether what we have prayed for has been manifested or not. We must still remain in the here and now, still trusting and believing God. When we look at the workings of God we understand that the concept of time for Him is not the same as it is for us. Therefore, what might appear to us to be change or delay, is actually God’s purpose. He tells Nehemiah to build the wall around Jerusalem, and then he allows a host of enemies to halt the work for a time (Nehemiah 4:7–14). He calls Jeremiah to prophesy in Judah, and then ordains that he should be tossed into a cistern (Jeremiah 38:1–6). He commissions Paul to preach the gospel to the Gentiles, and then lands him in a prison cell (Philippians 1:12–13). Time would fail to tell of Joseph’s wait in Egypt, of David’s flights from Saul, and of the multitudes who intercepted Jesus as he was heading somewhere else. Scott Hubbard Oh yes, the great “I AM,” is the Master of time, “Hath he not commanded, and shall it not come to pass?” Let us release the past and stay present with God. Let us not concern ourselves about the future because, the great “I AM,” is the Master of time, not us. We are encouraged to, “Rest in God alone, O my soul, for my hope comes from Him.” (Psalm 52:5) God is not moved by time, so no interruption or delay is ever impacted by time. Whatever he said that he will do, he is sure to do it, because He is not a man that should lie.
