How is your faith working?

But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.  (James 2: 18)

How's your faith working? When you have it and when you use it, nothing works for you like faith. No wonder drug cures like faith. No foundation supports like faith. No doctor heals like faith. No eyeglasses give vision like faith. No batteries keep you going like faith. No magician mystifies like faith. No motivator fires you up like faith. No power pulls you through like faith.
 
However, while it is true that nothing works for you like faith when you have it and use it, it is also a fact that nothing weakens you like the lack or loss of faith. For, without faith, hope takes a holiday. Without faith, the impossible becomes unimaginable. Without faith, visions vaporize and vanish. Without faith, you can neither please yourself nor God. Without faith, the mediocre becomes your role model. Without faith, salvation becomes a fantasy. Without faith, dreams dry up. Without faith, what has never been done, never will be done.
 
When it's working, nothing works for you like faith. When it's not working, nothing weakens you like the lack or loss of faith. Therefore, the question is not whether you have faith or works. Nor, is the question whether or not you have faith and works. What you require is faith that works!
 
You require faith that works when the bottom falls out of your budget. Your life demands faith that works when the doctors diagnose death. You need faith that works when your nuclear family explodes. You desire faith that works when your dreams turn into nightmares. You have to have faith that works when your hopes are assassinated by cynicism. You cry out for faith that works when your eyes are filled with an ocean of tears. You beg for faith that works when your body aches, your heart breaks and the foundations of your world shake.
 
At times like these, you don't need faith that simply looks sanctified, sounds spiritual or feels sensual. You gotta have faith that actually works!
