“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:7)
Peace is a precious blessing from the Lord, a fruit of the Spirit. Through Christ Jesus we have immediate access. All that is required of us is that we seek it and strive for it, “in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Philippians 4:6) Also, because it is a precious thing we should protect our God given peace. T. Meurisse, author of Managing Your Emotions, suggested that the people we allow in our lives can have a great impact on our peace. “The people you hang out with have a tremendous influence on your emotional state. Positive people will lift you up and help you achieve your wildest dreams. Negative people will suck up your energy, demotivate you and destroy your potential. As Jim Rohn said, ‘You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. Make sure you surround yourself with the right people.” Spurgeon wrote, “Walk in boldness, avoid every appearance of evil. ‘Be not conformed to this world.’ Stand up for truth and rectitude. Suffer not the maxims of men to sway your judgment. Seek the Holy Spirit that you may live like Christ, and live near to Christ, and your peace shall not be interrupted.” We don’t have to ask for peace, it has already been given. GiGi❤️
