![]() According to 2 Timothy 2:3, A good soldier of Jesus Christ endures hardship. He does not follow his own path, make up his own rules, nor seeks his own pleasure, but seeks to serve God both day and night. A good soldier understands that there will be times when he must dig a deep trench and at other times stand in the watchtower. Nonetheless he is watchful and in either place he is aware that the real battlefield is the mind. “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:3-5). There are times when we soldiers become exhausted emotionally because the battlefield is in the mind. We may be tempted to give up because it appears that the enemy is winning no matter what. Yet, we are encouraged not to fret, to be still, and submit ourselves to the Lord so that we can resist anger, resentment, and bitterness which can only serve to lead us away from God. A good soldier endeavors to serve. If the enemy can preoccupy and distract us in the battlefield of the mind then we will not be prepared for battle. Spurgeon wrote, “‘Wellington sent word to his troops one night, “Ciudad Rodrigo must be taken tonight.’ And what do you think was the commentary of the soldiers appointed for the attack? They all said, ‘We will do it!’” So, when the Lord gives us instructions and we have brought every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, we are prepared for battle and will boldly respond, “We will do it! We will do it in Jesus’ Name!” Turn the other cheek! ”We will do it!” Love your spouse! ”We will do it!” Forgive the unforgivable! ”We will do it!” Stand in the gap! ”We will do it!” Let us be encouraged today, pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off. Let us place the helmet of salvation back on our head and place the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God, back in its sheath. It’s not time to give up. Because the battlefield is our mind, we must renew it daily so that we will charge forward and proclaim, “We will do it!. Remember, the battle belongs to God! Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. GiGi❤️
