![]() Blessed are you, Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD? He is your shield and helper and your glorious sword. Your enemies will cower before you, and you will tread on their heights.” (Deuteronomy 33:29) At times it seems that troubles, big and small plague us. We may even think that we never get a break, “It’s always something!” But we should be encouraged this morning because, we might be a “warring people” but we are a happy people. Despite all that we go through we know that God is with us, he is in control, and “All things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28) Our relationship with God gives us immediate access to peace and happiness. Therefore, though we war, we are at peace and we are happy. “God’s people are a warring people, and yet a happy people, for though dangers surround us omnipotence preserves us. No sooner are we saved than we have to contend with foes. Now, these foes are very apt at warfare, and ready to smite us even to the death; hence the necessity for this blessed word, ‘The shield of thy help.’ The sword will be lifted against us, but God himself will interpose between us and that sword. The arrows will fly winged with malicious design, but God will protect us, even from the thought of someone desiring to hurt us. He is ‘the shield of thy help.’ Think of this and rejoice. Many evils would injure us, and even destroy us if they could, but Jehovah Jesus interposes between us and them.” Charles Spurgeon I encourage us to rejoice this morning, because if we are indeed believers in Christ, we are saved and blessed. Yes we might be going through, but we are covered under the wings of the almighty God. Shouldn’t we be happy? GiGi❤️
