![]() And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. (Genesis 39:2) We must be careful not to judge ourselves during our pit/prison circumstances. As children of God we must know that God is always with us no matter what it is we face. More importantly, He does not see us as we see ourselves. When He looks at us, we are covered by the Blood of the Lamb. We have a tendency to think that when things are going well with us, God is with us. When things get rough we may think that we must have done something wrong, or fallen short somehow. Joseph demonstrated the character, “diligence, focus, integrity” that is required during a pit/prison circumstance. He maintained his faith through the good and the bad times. And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God? But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. (Genesis 50: 19 -20) Spurgeon writes, “The Lord was with Joseph as he stood there to be sold, and he fell into good hands. When he was taken away to his master’s house, and the various duties of his service were allotted to him, the Lord was with Joseph. His master saw that the Lord was with him, and the Lord made all that he did to prosper in his hand. And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand. And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the Lord was upon all that he had in the house and in the field.” Yes, the Lord was with Joseph in the pit and in prison, through the good times and the bad. We do not know when or how our deliverance will manifest but we must wait for it. "Though He tarry, wait for Him: He is worth waiting for. " Dear Lord, help us to remember that whatever it is we face today, it is a part of Your plan, “It was God that sent me to preserve your lives with a great deliverance.” (Genesis 45:5) Lord, you know the outcome, strengthen us to WAIT on you.
