“Not willing that any should perish” (2 Peter 3:9)
We should not give up on our loved ones and friends who have hardened their hearts toward God. Some of them are like Cain, bent on resenting the favor of God in others, taunting righteousness and bullying truth. Yet, the Lord takes time out to visit the unrighteousness as He did us for, the Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” Spurgeon wrote: ‘Cain was in such a bad temper that he was very wroth, and his countenance fell, yet God, the infinitely gracious One, came and spoke with him, and reasoned with him patiently. God gives none up until they fatally resolve to give themselves up, and even then His good Spirit strives with them as long as it is possible to do so, consistently with His holiness.” Keep on praying for that soul; God is in the saving business.
