“He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.” (Matthew 10:37-38) I believe that the story of Abraham provides a perfect example of what it looks like when we walk closely with the Lord. Notice when faith is activated we resist the impulse to confer with flesh and blood (Galatians 1:16). We just do. Abraham, when he was tasked with offering Isaac as a sacrifice did not discuss it with his wife or reveal to his servants his intent. He instructed the servant that accompanied him to remain at the bottom of the mountain as he and his son proceeded. Even when his heart must have cried out when Isaac asked, "but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?,” he pressed forward. Yet, we all know is that in the end God provided a ram in the bush. It is then that God blessed Abraham’s seed forever. We may never know the abundance God has for us if we don’t exercise our faith. Hesitation can be the result of not wanting to do what we know God has led us to do. We put it off, not because we are uncertain, but because God’s will does not line up with our will. I thank God that He doesn’t mute us as He did Zechariah when he didn’t believe that God could do what He said He could do. We may not have to root up everything and move to another country, or sacrifice our child on an altar. What we do know is that, whatever God has given us to do, it will take us in the opposite direction of self-indulgence. It will make us uncomfortable. It will require us to give up something. Also, we will be reminded that nothing we possess can be of greater value to us than our relationship with God. Fear not my brothers and sisters as we step out on faith, for the Lord is our “shield, and our exceeding great reward,” Genesis 15:1. GiGi❤️
