“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” (James 4:8) Some of us have chosen numbing over praying. “If there’s one thing that we’ve mastered, it’s how to take the edge off of feeling pain and discomfort by numbing—eating, drinking, spending, planning, playing online, perfecting, staying really, really busy.” Even having a form or routine of prayer can be numbing if we are not drawing near to God. Drawing near to God in prayer is our removing our shoes and entering into the presence of God. Drawing near to God in prayer is being conscious of His goodness and mercy. Drawing near to God in prayer is experiencing the relationship on another level, this profound sense of connecting and spending time with Him. Perhaps this is something we should consider when we fall on our knees in prayer. Are we going through the motions, or are we drawing near to the Lord so that He will draw near to us? GiGi❤️
