Demonstrating Love to our Brothers and Sisters Am I generous with my time Am I extending patience and compassion Am I reaching out Am I creating space for healing and forgiveness Am I focused with support beyond my own family Am I supportive beyond my own friends Do I respect all people Do I love people who don’t act lovely Am I taking inclusive action within my community, my country, with my pastor and national leaders, wrapping them into my prayers…. As my pastor spoke recently about loving people with a Godly love, I began check listing myself, my heart, my actions. For me, I find it’s sooooo easy for me to love this way with my family and friends. But a better perspective was the access how am I extending love to my next door neighbors, how am I extending love to the people in the community. How am I extending love to family outside of my household. How am I blessing the cashier at the grocery store or the person in the drive through window. Going to church doesn’t make us Christ like. It’s what’s in our hearts that really makes the difference. Our actions makes the difference! Putting into practice love with self sacrifice is so important according to scripture. We can’t successfully manifest love at a distance, we have to pull in closer, be deliberate in our efforts, wherever and whenever possible. We have to love with self sacrifice. We cannot manifest love at a distance. It’s just not possible. ““As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:9-13 NIV) Let’s sacrifice our time to extended family. Touch in to see how our coworkers are doing, speak blessings over the people inside homes and cars around us, love when it’s not convenient with a joyful and willing heart. Love even when its not returned! Nikkie 💕☀️
