“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus..” (Philippians 4:6-7) If worry and a problem had a contest to determine which is the bigger, worry would most likely be the victor. Each challenge has proven that we worry far more than the problem is worth. Us worriers do this well. We know how to make a mountain out of a molehill. Yet, we have options, we can either act up or trust God. Acting up only serves to pump more stress hormones into the bloodstream. Stress and worry do not solve one thing. They are an indication that we are making the response bigger than the problem. They are also an indication that it is time to pray. Smith Wigglesmorth tells the story of his wife’s great faith displayed when they had nothing in the house to eat. After they prayed she got up and set the table. When he asked what she was doing she let him know that she was getting ready for the food that the Lord was going to provide. The family waited, his wife with great expectation, then eventually there was a knock at the door. Those who brought the food felt compelled to do so not even knowing of the great need. “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” (Mark 11:24) The opposite of worry is trust. Faith is our noun, something we possess, “the substance of things hoped for,” but trust is our action, our act of boldness and confidence. It is a “willful choice, a deliberate action, and can only grow out of your faith.” Today, in this moment, we can either act up or choose to act on faith and trust God. Now, after we have prayed, let us set the table. “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19) GiGi❤️
