I want to encourage us all to remember the importance of silence and resting before God. I know that we are very busy and often rush up in the morning without taking the time to be still before God. One day has turned into weeks, weeks into months, months into years. Yet, this time with God is one of the greatest sources of power that we can tap into. It is during this special quiet time that we can hear from God and receive strength to face life’s challenges. In the absence of quiet time with God, we have a tendency to drift away with the cares of this world. If the noise of the world has prevented us from hearing from God and spending time with him, there is hope. Just like the prodigal son we can come to our senses and say, “I will arise and go to my father.” (Luke 15:18). The noise isn’t always manifested as blasphemy, adultery, or rebellion, etc. It can also manifest as distraction and complacency. In the story of the prodigal son, when he comes to his senses and returns, the father embraced him because of his great love for his son. He missed and longed for him. The Lord misses us and longs to spend time with us. He is ever present because he is aware, that other seed would fall among thorns that grew up with it and choke out the tender plants. (Luke 8:7) Charles Spurgeon wrote, That tear which was wiped away so hastily-as if you were ashamed of it-God saw it, and he stored it in his bottle. That hesitant prayer you breathe just a few moments ago, so faintly, and with such little faith-God heard it. The other day when you were deep in your thoughts, he was there. He sees you with an eye of intense interest. He has been looking on you in your busyness, sorrow, or confusion, hoping that you would repent and return to him. When we have come to our senses, and arise and return, He will “Bring out the best robe and put it on us, and put a ring on our hand and sandals on our feet. And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; for this my child was dead and is alive again; was lost and is found.” (Luke 15:23-24) Dear Lord, you have our attention. We have come to our senses and have returned. Help us to awake out of sleep so that we will call on you, go and pray to you, and then you will hear us. (Jeremiah 29:12) GiGi❤️
